AHF volunteer trip to Zambia 2024
We just returned from another incredible volunteer trip with Africa Hope Fund! This year, we had 10 amazing volunteers, including some returning faces and others stepping out of the country for the very first time. We had a blast working in the reading centers, going on thrilling game drives, spotting a baby leopard in the wild, and swapping stories at the lodge.
Our days were packed with unforgettable experiences—like crafting jewelry from poacher's snare wire at Mulberry Mongoose and trying our hand at coiling and hammering our own snare wire. We visited Chipembele to see the fantastic work being done by Anna and Steve Tolan in the South Luangwa Valley.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the dog demo at CSL, where we watched detection dogs in action and learned about their training to find snare wire, pangolin scales, and ammunition. We also had the chance to work with older kids who have graduated from High School and are in the process of transitioning to University and are currently in the Foundations Program at Project Luangwa. It serves as a mentorship program, equipping these young adults with the essential skills they need before heading off to university. And as a bonus, we even managed to sneak in a little yoga!
When we weren’t busy with activities, we were lounging by the pool or gazing at the lively Luangwa River, which was always bustling with hippos, crocs, puku, and the occasional elephant crossing the river. And let's not forget the cheeky monkeys who decided to steal our sugar bowl—not once, but twice!
We’re already planning next year’s adventure—join us July 11th-26th 2025 for the trip of a lifetime! Spots are filling up fast, so book now!
