Africa Hope Fund's Mission

The mission of Africa Hope Fund is to promote wildlife conservation in Southern Africa by supporting organizations on the ground that are dedicated to anti-poaching efforts, conservation education for children, wildlife damage mitigation, and continued education for local children to ensure their economic futures.

Africa Hope Fund’s Impactful Projects in Zambia

Here are just a few of the many ways Africa Hope Fund is making a difference in Zambia’s South Luangwa Valley:

  • Literacy Centers: We transform unused spaces in primary schools into vibrant literacy centers, providing books, puzzles, games, and essential learning materials. With 22 trained reading assistants, we teach children to read and write in English—an essential skill required from Grade 4 onward. In partnership with Project Luangwa, we ensure our reading assistants are registered with the Zambian government and receive fair compensation.

Our Impact in the South Luangwa Valley

  • Sponsored over 50 students to attend secondary school and college.

  • Built six new classrooms and a library for a struggling primary school, increasing enrollment from 320 to over 1,000 students.

  • Funded local scouting patrols to combat poaching, remove snares, and rescue trapped wildlife.

  • Supported conservation education programs that have inspired local children to pursue careers in wildlife conservation.

  • Backed detection dog programs trained to locate illegal wildlife products like ivory and bushmeat, as well as firearms and ammunition.

  • Supported initiatives to protect elephants and carnivores from extinction in Southern Africa.

Collaborating with Local NGOs

In addition to operating our literacy centers and Llbraries, we proudly partner with six Zambian NGOs to expand our reach and impact:

  • Project Luangwa: Our key partner in the Reading Program, also supported in launching a mobile computer and learning lab.

  • Chipembele Wildlife Education Center: Funded their conservation classes, computer center, and student sponsorships for secondary school and college.

  • Makolekole Drilling Foundation: Helped raise funds for boreholes (wells) by providing a vehicle online and matching donations.

  • Conservation Lower Zambezi: Raised funds for women’s conservation training programs and other key conservation initiatives.

  • Conservation South Luangwa: Provided long-term support for operations such as donor management systems, email services, and web development.

  • Zambia Carnivore Program: Supported projects including vehicle purchases, intern sponsorships, women’s conservation training, and website development.

Through these impactful projects and partnerships, Africa Hope Fund is creating lasting change for both communities and wildlife across Zambia.
